This project was a quasi-experimental study in which we trained the general physicians with newest national and international guidelines for the treatment of hypertension and measured rate of hypertension control in patients and the knowledge, attitude and practice of general practitioners before and after training. The results of this study showed that the rate of control of hypertension increased significantly after the intervention (from 38.1% to 57.3%). Therefore, it seems that holding regular and periodic training programs for general practitioners and other medical staff and also regular follow-up of patients are effective ways to improve the control of hypertension.
